Diwan Kauda Mal holds a special place in the hearts of Sikhs. He funded the construction of Gurdwara Bal Leela and its sarovar in Nankana Sahib, spending three lakh rupees. Known for his humility and unwavering dedication to the Guru Ghar, the Sikh Panth honored him with the title Mitha Mal. A true devotee and loyal Singh, he stood firmly with the Sikh community, lifting sieges and fighting battles in their defense.
Even as Diwan of Lahore and Multan under Mir Manu, he never wavered in his support for the Sikhs. He always stood by his principles, declaring right as right and wrong as wrong without hesitation. In times of struggle, he would join the Dewan of the Khalsa, listen to the evening Aarti, and humbly seek guidance from the Nihang Singhs, bowing before them with offerings.
His selfless service extended to arranging sweet martyrdom pots for the Nitnem Singhs and ensuring the well-being of the Mahakal Singhs. His deep love for the Panth resonated in every heart, earning him immense respect. The Singhs revered him so much that they began calling him Guru’s feet when he helped lift the siege of Amritsar, nearly handing over his own home to them in service.
Diwan Kauda Mal played a pivotal role in Sikh history, transforming the Jats of the Sikh Panth. His influence was so profound that it strengthened the roots of Sikhism, proving him to be both a devoted friend and servant of the faith. Sat Sri Akal.
