The true meaning of Langar: It is not free, the path to true salvation is found only through service and meditation.

The true meaning of Langar: It is not free, the path to true salvation is found only through service and meditation.

O God, the victory of the Guru, dear Sadh Sangat, I am telling you this story that teaches us an important lesson in life.

In a village, there lived a Gurmukh family. That family had given a sadhu a house in their house. That family served the sadhu with devotion. They would pour prasadam three times in their heart. The sadhu would pour prasadam into the chavra and give it to the Maharaj. The sadhu would go to the chavra and lock it from inside. The family was happy to think that we were spending our time sitting inside in devotion and meditation. In this way, for many years, they continued to serve the sadhu.

Gurmukh Family

Then one day, the sadhu’s end came and the afterlife was improved. The family performed the funeral rites of the sadhu with great respect. After those years, the head of that family was working in his fields. A band that had been washed to draw water from it was not moving at all. The beloved Gurmukh had repeatedly pulled it with his small hand. Then, suddenly, the great men there said to the head of that family, “Brother, why do you have this position?” The great men smiled and said, “This is the same sadhu who lives in your house.” The Gurmukh was surprised to hear this. He said, “How can this be? Then how can this situation be? How can anyone know the truth? But he did not know that he would have to give an account of all the prasad he gave for free.” He told me that the sadhu who used to eat had to work in my house in the summer to pay off all the debt. Until that debt is paid off, he will not get salvation. He had eaten as much prasad as he had without it. To pay off his debt, he came to you in excess. Until he has made your name known, the Sadh Sangat Ji heard this and bought land from the feet of that beloved Gurmukh.

From this story, we understand that nothing is free in this world. If you eat for free, then you definitely have to answer for it. Langars are being run in our Guru houses, which were started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, but we have forgotten his mind. Now think about it. Where can you get free food in our country? Only in Langar, the meaning or food is gold. Guru Nanak Patshah Ji gave this langar to the hungry poor and The people who chant the name started it for the same sages. What do we do today? We eat to our full stomach in the langar and leave the poor standing outside. To please the relatives, they put chairs and make them sit while the poor keep telling us.

food

This is a great truth, but for today’s reality, this is the same. One should go and eat langar, but with full respect, two rotis are enough. After this, do service, clean the present and listen to kirtan or recite paath. If someone is poor, eat well, but he should also be associated with service. Remember, if you are full, then go to the Guru’s house and give him only one prasad. If he is disturbed, then after that, do some service in the Guru’s house, whether it is the service of cleaning the utensils or any other kind of service, after that, sit at the feet of the Satguru and meditate or recite the Gurbani.

eat langar

Whoever feels your presence is kind to you, you should not go to the Guru’s house to take something, but to give something. If you are poor, then you can eat langar, but from that Even after that, do some service and meditation, even in the form of words. As much as possible, go to the Guru’s house and talk to someone like friends or Who comes to see Guru Sahib Ji only with relatives? If you only come, then it will be just your one time visit. No attendance. When the mind is set on service and meditation, Guru Sahib Ji also becomes happy. The house becomes a place of good happiness and peace. In the end, if you want to be with the grace of Guru Sahib Ji without hesitation, then donate as much as possible to the Guru Ghar.

langar as Prasad and eat it

Do service and meditate. If there is no shortage in your house, then consider the langar as Prasad and eat it. These are not songs for you. I will fill the village with the langar of the Guru Ghar. But at the same time, do not give up the goodness of service and meditation. Someday, you will meet the real one and happiness will come to your house. Sat Shri Akal
