There are five important guidelines to follow when reciting from the Gutka Sahib. First, always tilt your head slightly while reading, and ensure your hair is neatly tied or covered. Second, place a handkerchief beneath the Gutka Sahib—but keep it at a distance—so it can be used for cleaning if needed.
Third, avoid opening the Gutka Sahib and reciting where a Kirtan or Katha is taking place. Focus should remain on one spiritual activity at a time. Fourth, choose a clean and quiet space for recitation so Gurbani can be read with full respect and concentration.
Lastly, always use the physical Gutka Sahib instead of a mobile phone for reciting Bani. Notifications and distractions from the phone can break your focus. Sat Sri Akal.
