During his travels via Ropar and Anandpur Kalan, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji paused to rest under a peepal tree outside Mukarampur. A devoted couple, Mai Mary and Roop Chand, recognized the Guru and begged him to bless their home.

  • 17 Days of Blessings: Guru Ji accepted their request, staying with them for 17 days, during which the couple served with unmatched love.
  • Guru’s Written Hukam: Upon departing, Guru Ji gifted Roop Chand a handwritten order (hukamnama), declaring:
    “Whoever sees this, sees me.”
    This sacred document became a spiritual treasure for generations.

Historical Echoes

  • Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Visit: It’s believed the 10th Guru also stayed here for two days while journeying from Patna to Anandpur Sahib, further sanctifying the land.
  • Martyrdom Connection: The Gurdwara lies near Sirhind, where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, were martyred—adding layers of sacred resilience to this soil.
