Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Arrival at Saidpur
While spreading the message of religion, Guru Nanak Dev Ji reached Saidpur, today known as the “Saipur of the Worlds.” During his visit, he heard alarming rumors that Babur, the King of Kabul, was preparing to attack with his army. Fear gripped the villagers, but Guru Ji encouraged the Sangat to stay fearless and face the threat with courage.

The Attack by Babur’s Army
Soon after, Babur’s forces launched their attack on Saidpur. They captured all the citizens, including Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji. The prisoners, along with the looted goods, were forcefully taken towards Lahore. Along the way, Guru Ji witnessed the horrific atrocities inflicted upon women. To offer comfort, Guru Ji recited a shabad, which gave the prisoners a deep sense of hope and spiritual support.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Meeting with Babur
When Babur came to know that a saint was among the prisoners, he expressed a desire to meet Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Upon meeting, Babur bowed with respect and said, “If there is any service I can do for you, please tell me.” With great kindness, Guru Ji requested Babur to return the looted belongings and send the captives back to their homes. Respecting Guru Ji’s words, Babur immediately released all the prisoners.

On this powerful occasion, Guru Nanak Dev Ji conveyed a timeless lesson: one must live according to the laws of nature and should never destroy another’s world for personal gain. He emphasized that while no heart can be conquered through force, all hearts can be won through love.
